Description:

The PU LUONG limestone landscape is an area of outstanding beauty, cultural interest and high biodiversity value stretching from Mai Chau to the northwest of Cuc Phuong National Park in the South East. It is blessed with rich forest, limestone panoramas, magnificent rice terraces and breathtaking scenery.

Set out on an off-beaten track 3-day trek, easy-to-moderate level. It is the best way to penetrate into the world of the Thai and Muong ethnic minorities. The expedition offers a chance to explore the beauty of lowlands karst system; feel the truly authentic village atmosphere and experience their untouched cultures and traditional lifestyle while staying in their wooden stilt houses, tasting typical cuisine prepared by hosts.

Day 1: Hanoi - Mai Chau - Mai Hich

Depart from Ha Noi to Mai Chau.

The valley of Mai Chau (3.5hours from Ha Noi) has more to offer than just a quick visit in a day or two. We recommend you to take time strolling around the exciting villages like Lac, Poom Coong. Then travel further to Mai Hich village. Lunch at the homestay.

In the afternoon, take a short trek until Buoc village, inhabite by Thai people

Dinner and overnight in a charming stilt house.

Day 2: Mai Hich - Kho Muong Village

After 1.5 hours by car from Mai Hich, start the first trek through Pu Luong

Nature Reserve, passing by Thai and Muong ethnic villages, get up close to their living and stop any time for a chitchatting or a cup of tea. People are hospitable and welcoming, not may tourists frequent here.

The trails are various in difficulty, distance (3-5 hours), and customized to your capacity. Picnic lunch at a nice spot. Tonight, we arrive at Kho Muong, a rustic village nestled in the middle of limestone valley.

Dinner and overnight in a charming stilt house

Day 3: Pu Luong - Pho Doan - Hanoi

After breakfast bid farewell to the host family and go for the last stage on foot. You will meander along the beautiful valley, passing by peaceful villages painted with brown thatched roofs “floating” in the infinity of rice terraces.

Arrive at small town of Pho Doan after 3-4 hours of trekking. Take a short break for lunch at a local food stall. Later, you will head to Canh Nang, follow Road No. 217 to Cam Thuy and the Ho Chi Minh highway to return to Hanoi.
