Description:

West Papua is the Indonesia’s half of the New Guinea Island. Landing in the middle of this vast mountain terrain, is like stepping into a different time zone.

The tribes are still visible in the area while many others live in the surrounding forest. Don’t miss the Baliem festival, where the locals, both men and women dance to their Dani music.
This trip is different of a kind.

Day 1: Jayapura – Wamena

Upon arrival at Sentani Airport catch local Trigana flight to Wamena in the afternoon.

Upon arrival at Wamena, welcome by our local guide who will then lead you for site seeing visit some villages around Wamena including traditional market.

Lunch box will be provided during the trip.
Afterward we take you to the hotel for check in and overnight.

Rest of the day is a free at your own leisure.

Day 2: Wamena – Kurima – Wamena

Drive to Sogokmo (35 minutes) then start to have a day trekking passing some sweet potato fields and enjoy the gorgeous scenery of your surroundings.

You will get to Kurima, the sub district of the tribe and along the trail you will meet the local people with friendly smiles in their traditional clothes.

After picnic lunch we heading back to Sogokmo where the car pick you up and drive back to Wamena.

Day 3: Saltspring - Kurulu – Mummy traditional dani hamlet

In the morning one hour drive to Jiwika in the central Baliem-Valley.

Start a one hour-long walking-tour uphill (about 300 m height) trough a beautiful mountain-rainforest to the traditional salt spring of a Dani clan.
Native women in traditional costumes accompany us. They will demonstrate the old way of the salt production.

After the relegation we have lunch on the mountains base.
After lunch we walk to the nearby Kurulu hamlet, where a very old mummy of the famous Dugum clan can be admired.

Afterwards the women show us how the brought brine is processed. In the neighbourhood we see more picturesque hamlets. Everywhere the friendly natives offer their arts and crafts, weapons and curiosities.

In the afternoon drive back to the Resort.

Day 4: Wamena – Jiwika – Wamena

After breakfast we leave the resort for a full-day traditional pig-feast in a Dani Village. Giving you the chance to see a full ceremony and take pictures from each event.
The traditional pig cooking with hot stones is one of the most interesting events on the highland of West Papua.

Day 5: Wamena – Jayapura

After breakfast at hotel, we drive you to Wamena Airport to get Trigana first flight to Jayapura. The flight takes about 50 minutes.

Upon arrival at Sentani Airport you will be picked up transferred to the hotel for check in.
Then we enjoy sightseeing tour including the visit to Mac Arthur 2nd Worl War Monument, Sentani Lake and its small islands, museum, and Hamadi Market.

Lunch served at a restaurant by the lake.
Return back to hotel late in the afternoon.

Day 6: Jayapura departure

After breakfast transfer to Sentani airport to board your flight.
